AI preset generator and NAM capture support for under $300?
In 2026, I think amp modelers have pretty much won the tone war. Whether you’re spending $1,500 or $150 on a modeler, there are plenty of units that offer usable amp models, cabinet sounds, and effects for live performance and recording.
So when a company sends me another amp modeler to check out, I’m not necessarily asking whether it has a good Fender model or a convincing Marshall sound. The more interesting question is: what makes this amp modeler different?
That’s what made me want to check out the Mooer GE 100 Pro. It’s not just the amp models or effects that caught my attention. The GE 100 Pro can actually use AI to build guitar presets from a simple text prompt. I’ve personally never seen that on a budget amp modeler, and after spending some time with it, I was surprised by how well it actually works.
On top of that, you get NAM capture support, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, USB direct recording, a built-in expression pedal, a looper, and a full collection of amp and effects models. And the crazy part is the price: you can pick one up for under $200.
What Is the Mooer GE 100 Pro?
The Mooer GE 100 Pro is a compact multi-effects amp modeler designed for guitarists who want a portable setup for playing, recording, and performing.
The GE 100 Pro includes amp models, cabinet simulations, effects, presets, an expression pedal, and multiple connectivity options. But the two features that really separate it from other budget modelers are the AI preset generator and NAM capture support.
The particular version I tested is the GE 100 LI, with the LI referring to its lithium-ion battery. That means you can actually use the amp modeler without being connected to a power cable.

Connectivity
The GE 100 Pro keeps the connectivity pretty straightforward. You get a 1/4-inch guitar input, stereo 1/4-inch outputs, and a headphone output for quiet practice.
There are also two USB connections. One is dedicated to charging, while the other allows you to record and charge the unit at the same time. That second USB connection is particularly useful if you’re using the GE 100 Pro as a recording device.
Battery Life
The rechargeable battery is one of my favorite features of the GE 100 LI. During my testing, the unit had been powered on for more than three and a half hours, and the battery indicator was still showing around 90 percent remaining.
That gave me a lot of confidence that the battery can easily handle a typical playing session or gig. And if you do run low, you can recharge it using USB-C.
That makes the GE 100 LI extremely portable. You can throw it into a gig bag, take it on a trip, plug in headphones, record, or connect it to a live setup without needing to carry a separate power supply.
The AI Preset Generator
This is the feature that really makes the GE 100 Pro interesting to me.
I’ve seen a lot of products add “AI” to their marketing simply because it’s the buzzword of the moment. That’s not what I found here. Mooer has actually built a useful AI tool into the system that can generate guitar presets from a simple text prompt.
For example, I asked it to create a preset for “Heartbreaker” by Led Zeppelin. The AI generated three options that I could immediately audition. And honestly, the results were pretty impressive on the first try.
I picked the option I liked best and then asked the AI to add some light reverb. It generated three more options based on that request.
That means you don’t have to start from scratch every time you want a particular sound. You can give the AI a general direction, listen to the results, and then refine the preset with additional prompts.
Building Presets With AI
I tried the system with several different songs and styles.
For “Carry On My Wayward Son” by Kansas, the AI generated several presets, including sounds with delay that worked well for the type of lead tone I was looking for.
I also asked it for a clean verse sound for “Bringing on the Heartbreak” by Def Leppard. The AI generated several options, and I then asked it to add some chorus and shimmer to the reverb.
Again, it generated new options based on the request. After finding a sound I liked, I could save it directly to the pedal and then make small adjustments manually.
For example, I reduced the reverb decay because it was a little too long for my taste. I also adjusted the shimmer and chorus levels on the Def Leppard preset.
That’s an important part of the system for me. The AI doesn’t have to get everything perfect. It just needs to get you close enough that you can make the final adjustments yourself.
Getting Weird With the AI
I also wanted to see what would happen if I stopped asking for conventional guitar tones.
I asked for an extreme heavy metal tone with delay, and the GE 100 Pro handled the high-gain sounds surprisingly well. Then I used a Vola guitar and asked the AI to make the sound “super weird.”
The results were, well, pretty freaking weird.
So I pushed it further and asked it to make the sound like an alien was playing guitar.
That’s where the feature became particularly fun. It’s not just a tool for recreating famous guitar tones. You can also use it as a starting point for creating sounds you might not have thought to build yourself.
NAM Capture Support
The other major feature that makes the GE 100 Pro stand out is NAM support.
If you’re not familiar with NAM, it stands for Neural Amp Modeler. It’s a capture technology that allows guitarists to capture the sound of real amplifiers and share those captures with other players.
There’s a large community around NAM, with players exchanging captures online. The advantage for the GE 100 Pro is that you’re not limited to the amp models included with the unit.
If there’s a particular amplifier capture you want and it’s not already available on the modeler, you can download a compatible NAM capture and load it into the unit.
That opens up an enormous range of potential amp sounds. For a budget amp modeler, I think that’s a huge advantage.
Recording Direct to Your Phone
Another feature that I think is especially useful for content creators is USB direct recording.
You can connect the GE 100 Pro directly to your phone and record the processed guitar signal. That means you don’t need to connect an audio interface, open a DAW, record into a computer, mix the guitar, and export the finished recording.
You can simply connect the unit directly to your phone and record.
I tested this by running the GE 100 Pro’s USB output directly into my phone, and the recording was captured entirely through the unit. For anyone making Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok content, that’s a really practical feature.
Preset Cloud and Mobile App
The GE 100 Pro can also be controlled through Mooer’s phone app. Once the app is connected, you can browse presets and access the AI preset generator.
The preset cloud also makes it easy to save and sync sounds to the device.
If you’re building a set list, this could be particularly useful. You can create a preset for a specific song, save it, and move on to the next one.
For cover-band players, I think this could be one of the most practical uses of the AI system. Instead of spending hours trying to recreate every guitar tone in a set list, you can start by telling the AI what song you’re trying to play and use its generated preset as your starting point.
Editing and Usability
Is the GE 100 Pro perfect? No.
There were a few features that I found myself stumbling through while using the hardware directly.
Fortunately, Mooer gives you another option. The phone app and computer software make deeper editing considerably easier.
If you’re planning on doing a lot of detailed preset editing, I highly recommend using the app rather than trying to do everything directly from the hardware. The physical unit is great for playing and making quick adjustments, while the software makes more complicated editing much easier.

Who Is the Mooer GE 100 Pro Best For?
I think the GE 100 Pro is particularly interesting for guitarists who want a lot of functionality without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars.
It’s a great option for:

- Home players
- Traveling musicians
- Content creators
- Players interested in NAM captures
- Guitarists who don’t want to spend hours building presets
- Players who want a portable recording setup
The rechargeable battery makes it especially useful for travel, while the USB recording capability makes it a surprisingly capable tool for content creation.
Who Should Skip It?
If you’re doing professional gigs with a high-end PA and need the absolute best processing, routing, and live-control capabilities available, I’d still choose a higher-end modeler.
I personally own a Fender Tone Master Pro and a Quad Cortex Mini, both of which are considerably more expensive and are designed for more demanding professional applications. For a major professional gig, those are still the units I’d choose.
But that doesn’t mean the GE 100 Pro doesn’t have a place in my rig.
In fact, I’d still take this with me on a trip because it’s significantly cheaper, extremely portable, battery powered, and still gives me very usable amp sounds, effects, NAM captures, and recording capabilities.
Price and Value
This is where the GE 100 Pro becomes particularly impressive.
You can pick up the GE 100 Pro for under $200, with the GE 100 LI version offering the added benefit of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
At this price point, you’re getting a lot of functionality in one compact device. You’re not just getting amp modeling and effects. You’re getting AI-assisted preset creation, NAM capture support, USB recording, a looper, an expression pedal, a rechargeable battery, and app connectivity.
That’s a lot of practical functionality for a relatively small investment.
Final Verdict
As I said at the beginning, I think amp modelers have pretty much won the tone war. You don’t need to spend over $1,000 anymore to get good amp sounds, cabinet sounds, and effects.
So for me, the GE 100 Pro isn’t interesting because it has usable amp models. Plenty of products do that now.
What makes this one stand out are two major features: AI preset generation and NAM support.
The AI system is something I’ve never seen implemented this way on a budget amp modeler, and more importantly, it’s actually useful. It can get you surprisingly close to a target sound quickly, and you can continue refining the preset with additional prompts.
Instead of spending hours trying to recreate a particular guitar tone, you can use the AI to get you into the ballpark and then make your own adjustments. That’s a productivity boost, especially if you’re building sounds for a set list.
NAM support gives the GE 100 Pro access to an entire ecosystem of amp captures. If there’s a particular amp you want and it isn’t included in the unit, you can potentially find a capture online and load it into the modeler. That dramatically expands what the unit can do.
Final Thoughts
Would I recommend the Mooer GE 100 Pro?
Absolutely.
Even though I already own much more expensive amp modelers, I would still grab something like this because of the combination of features and portability.
If I’m traveling, I’d much rather throw this into my bag than carry a $1,500 amp modeler. The rechargeable battery means I don’t even need to bring a power cable, and I still have access to usable amp sounds, effects, NAM captures, and direct recording.
For professional live work, I’d still choose my higher-end modelers. But that’s not really what makes the GE 100 Pro compelling.
This is a practical, affordable tool that solves some very specific problems. The AI can help you dial in tones faster. NAM gives you access to a huge library of amp captures. The battery makes the unit extremely portable. And USB direct recording makes it surprisingly useful for content creators.
And perhaps most importantly, all of that is available for around $150-$200.
The GE 100 Pro doesn’t try to beat the $1,500 amp modelers at their own game. Instead, it gives you features those expensive units don’t necessarily have, while keeping the price and size incredibly low.
